Hira Qaiser: From Faisalabad Housewife to Pakistan Idol 2026 Winner – The Inspiring Story (Chapter -1)

Breaking the silence

"Hira! Do something useful once, will you? You always sing. I said to you to get me some eggs from the coop, and you let the hens loose again," snapped Amma. (mother)

You're really driving me nuts. You can sing if you want, but why do you do it all the time, especially during home chores, and you've dropped out of school?” “Imagine what your in-laws would do to you if you continued that.

“Okay, okay! Don’t stress yourself, I’ll get you the eggs; it will be over in a blink of an eye, really no need to worry,” said Hira, and kept on singing merrily: “Jindiye Hun Te Magroon Leh Ja…”(singing a song).

“Why do you always pester the child? She works hard. No wonder she sings while she works. If the chickens had run away, she would have brought them back. Please leave her alone. I will get the eggs.” “Abba(father) said.

Abba (father) always protected her. He never stood in the way of her musical passion; in contrast, he helped her a lot. He listened to her music and gave good advice. He not only boosted her morale but also examined the nuances of her *sur* (melody) and *taal* (rhythm) to help her rectify any flaws. So, she could get better. He made sure she kept up, and he encouraged her a lot. Her younger sister also helped her in selecting the song for practice. Her mother, however, was very strict and annoying. She used to shout at Hira for everything, especially for her singing. For instance, she would say something like “You know what,  you are the cause of her being like that. What can you do, you know? "You can go to her in-laws ' place as a part of her dowry and do all the house chores there, wash clothes, cook, clean, etc., because you trained her this way!"

"I agree, Dad", said Hira. She knew her mother could not stand her singing; it was a daily occurrence. She was always a pain when it came to helping out around the house and doing the chores. Her mother didn’t want to be cruel; she knew how life with in-laws could be sometimes. She knew it would be hard for Hira to adjust, so she wished her passion for music would somehow diminish. Hira, however, never paid any attention to her mother’s words and kept on singing and was always lost in her own world.

Hira sang for all and every place, even to the neighbors. Her father and sister loved her passion for music and her voice. Her sister would always ask her to sing the song with her every time a new song came out because it sounded so good in her voice. Hira would learn the song and start practicing it right away. Whenever Amma heard her sing, she would get irritated and say something like this: "What is wrong with you people? Are you trying to ruin her? “She will never change!”

Because of her distinct voice, the people in the neighbourhood began to respect her and invited her to give performances at weddings. Hira gained a good reputation within her community, and a lot of people looked forward to her displaying her talent.
